Press release

Next Auto Shanghai will be held from 23 April – 2 May 2025

June 17, 2024

Since its start in 1985, Auto Shanghai has developed into the leading trade fair for the automotive industry in Asia and has seen a steady increase in exhibitor and visitor numbers. The rapid development of the Chinese automotive industry and its significance for the German and European car industry harbours numerous potentials for future-oriented business models and technologies, as well as research and development concepts. With almost 22 million vehicles delivered in 2023, China is and will remain the largest car market in the world. China is the most important single market for German car manufacturers and suppliers.

Next year, Auto Shanghai will open its doors from 23 April to 2 May 2025. For ten days, the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC) in Shanghai will once again be the central meeting point for the global players among manufacturers and suppliers in the automotive industry.

German companies will once again have the opportunity to present their state-of-the-art products and technologies at the German joint stand "German Pavilion", initiated by the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) and funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action. The aim is to enable small and medium-sized enterprises from Germany to have a cost-effective and efficient presence at the fair.

In 2023, around 1,000 international exhibitors showcased their products and services on 360,000 square metres of exhibition space and benefited from Auto Shanghai as a platform to exchange ideas and establish important business contacts.

Auto Shanghai 2025 will focus on New Energy Vehicles (NEVs), Smart Car Technologies and Tech Companies, among others. Classic topics such as development and technologies relating to engines, car bodies, production facilities, control equipment and automotive parts will also be represented. As in previous years, the trade fair addresses trade visitors, media, and end consumers alike.

The "Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition" takes place at the National Exhibition and Convention Centre (NECC), currently the largest exhibition centre in China. Four exhibition complexes with 3 single-storey and 5 double-storey halls are arranged around the NECC Plaza and are reminiscent of a four-leaf clover. This makes the NECC one of Shanghai's landmarks.
